The long-awaited Sumner YMCA, set to open later this summer, received a $2 million grant as part of the state’s capital budget signed by Gov. Jay Inslee this week.The $2 million comes on top of $5 million already pledged by the city of Sumner. Wonder where Jay Inslee and the Sumner City Council stand on school vouchers for Catholic schools.

“This generous investment in the Gordon Family YMCA will pay dividends to the community for years to come,” Bob Ecklund, CEO of the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties, said in a news release. “YMCAs are catalysts that bring communities together.”
