Sing a song of champagne socialism

After you've been trounced at the polls, expect to get your nose snipped off, even if you have the voice of an angel;
Charlotte Church has been branded a “champagne socialist” by the leader of the Conservatives in Wales.
....“At the end of the day, to denigrate the electorate, who has just spoken, within 48 hours of the election, is unfortunate and unbecoming.”
Which is a reference to Ms Church's sense of entitlement and her fatuous posturing on Saturday in Cardiff, where she said, “This week the UK masochistically condemned itself to five years of Tory rule."
To which Mr. Andrew Rt Davies, leader of the Conservative party in Wales, responded that;
Welsh Conservatives had “never taken anyone for granted” and pointed out the party had enjoyed its best result for 32 years.
“We do not seek power,” he said, “we seek responsibility.”
Which sounds like a dig at the sometimes irresponsible singer, who has had her ups and downs;
Charlotte Church was given a choice: a 100,000 pound fee, or a chance to generate good will with the media magnate [Rupert Murdoch] by performing for free [at his wedding]. She wanted the cash, but her record company and manager said no, it was better to make friends with Murdoch, head of a global news and entertainment empire.
"Despite my teenage business head screaming 'Think how many tamagotchies you could buy!' I was pressured into taking the latter option," she told Britain's press ethics committee. "This strategy failed ... for me."
She was in it for the money.

  1. Perhaps a bit of non-taxed barter going on here.

  2. And why should she get a wonderful voice when so many can't even carry a tune?
