The fat lady is warming up her
vocal cords at The Met;
The Metropolitan Opera reached tentative
deals with its singers and orchestra members Monday morning, averting a
threatened lockout and marking a significant step toward resolving the
labor strife that has rocked the company for months.
The
Met set a new deadline of Tuesday night to make deals with its other
unions, including the stagehands union, which had been waiting to see
what kind of agreements the singers union and orchestra union struck.
Because the ticket buyers pay to see the stagehands and electricians?
