Protection money they can't give away

To Vermonters, who are famously indegoddamnpendent;
The Margin Protection Program is a voluntary insurance program that enables dairy farmers to protect themselves from low prices.
The program protects farmers when the difference between milk prices and feed costs fall below an amount selected by the farmer. Minimum coverage costs $100.
The Burlington Free Press reports about two-thirds of dairy farmers in the state have yet to apply. Congressman Peter Welch and Vermont Agriculture, Food and Markets Secretary Chuck Ross Jr. addressed a news conference Monday stressing that they apply.
Or else?
