And yet the rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which
could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a
blowlamp.
Senator
Patty Murray has her ritual;
“You and I now have an opponent in my re-election campaign — the Koch brothers,” Murray said in a new email fundraising blast.
The four-term Democratic senator is pounding on news out of a recent
conference at Rancho Mirage, California, hosted by billionaire
conservative oilmen Charles and David Koch.
Virtually a separate political party, fielded in support of
Republicans, the Koch political network plans to raise and spend $889
million on the 2016 election.
The figure has mobilized Democrats, with one arguing that the Kochs
are trying to buy America, with the Republicans serving as real estate
agents.
And you can participate for less than the cost of a Starbucks skim milk latte. Just $3 gets the donor on Murray's list, which no doubt will be used for future appeals for campaign funds. Presumably Joel Connelly--the author of the
Seattle PI piece--will continue to make his contributions under the cover of journalism.
