Greenwich Village. And the parents of Marisa Tomei are
suing the son of Yoko Ono and John Lennon for ten million dollars, over it;
Addie and Gary Tomei, who live at 155 West 13th St., say a
decades-old Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) on Lennon’s property is
cracking their stoop and uprooting part of their home’s foundation,
according to a lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday.
“It’s
a worsening situation,” Gerard Walters, a lawyer representing the
couple said. “They’ve been talking about this for at least a year…[But
Lennon] doesn’t want to take down the tree.”
Which, at least, has some physical damage to the Tomei's property as a cause for litigation. Unlike the infamous John Olerud tree dispute with his neighbors, which
ended with a healthy tree being cut down to improve the former Seattle Mariners' view (and his property's value).
