Out with the old

A sport that almost no one cares about, or watches, would seem to be the perfect Olympic event--dressage, sport climbing, target shooting, etc--one that couldn't garner a paying audience to cover the expenses of putting it on otherwise.  But, one of the traditional competitions (it was in Athens' first Olympics of 1896) has been jettisoned;

Wrestling has been dropped from the 2020 Games to make way for a new sport.
The International Olympic Committee's executive board made its decision after assessing the performance of all 26 sports at the London Games.
Wrestling may yet gain a reprieve upon review of the decision, but will be up against baseball/softball, squash, karate, sport climbing, wakeboarding, wushu and roller sports.  What are the odds?
